Finally, the weird looks of the Renault Twizy worked in its favor! The odd electric urban runabout does not really fit in today’s motoring world, but that could be because it is ahead of its time. Director Terry Gilliam certainly thinks so, as he’s chosen the Twizy for a prominent role in his new film ‘The Zero Theorem’.
As you can guess, the story of the film happens in the future, where apparently everybody drives Renault Twizy, or other similar-looking vehicles. The Zero Theorem is the story of an eccentric and lonely IT genius, suffering from existential neurosis, and looking for the meaning of life, which somehow takes him to the future; a future full of Twizies. Not sure we like the sound of that.
The film opens in the UK on 14 March 2014, featuring a brilliant cast including Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained…), Matt Damon (Saving Private Ryan, Ocean’s 11, 12 & 13, The Bourne Identity, Elysium…) and Mélanie Thierry (Babylon A.D., One for the road).
Regardless of the plot and the role of Renault Twizy in the film, being in a Damon and Waltz film is going to work wonders for the car’s reputation.
