While the standard BMW i3 electric car is yet to be released into the markets around the world, a small number of customers in America, known as the ActiveE bunch, will be getting a special, limited version of the car before others. It is called the BMW i3 Electronaut Edition, and it is on sale right now.

ActiveE are the customers who have leased an electric product like the 1 Series electric or MINI-E, and they are now being upgraded to the i3.The BMW i3 Electronaut Edition comes with an equipment package worth $1,750, but ActiveE gang get it for free.

The Electronaut package adds a number of very handy options, including heated front seats which use an auxiliary battery, a DC Fast Charging system which provides 80% charge in just 30 minutes, special badging, special floor mats, and even a custom embroidered board bag.

For 2014 the Electronauts will also get the BMW i Smart smartphone application which helps the customer enjoy reduced charging costs by automatically calculating the daily cost-optimized charging periods for the i3.
