BMW announced a special edition of the long-wheelbase 7-Series for China. To be unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, it is called the 740Li Horse Edition. Normally, it should have been called the Dragon Edition, what with it being a tribute to China. But that one’s been done to death. So horse it is.

The BMW 740Li Horse Edition is the ultimate version of the V8-powered variant of the 7er. It is, as mentioned, the long wheelbase version, and it is fitted with xDrive, which is BMW talk for four-wheel-drive. So performance-wise, the car can keep up with the finest stallions.

What sets this model apart, and is in fact the recipe for every special edition car, is the extra visual features and interior appointments. In that aspect, BMW 740Li Horse Edition comes with special exterior colors, including Citrine Black, the Ruby Black, the Black Sapphire and the Moonstone, plus special edition M wheels.

The body is also garnished with a full M Sport kit, consisting of aggressive front and rear aprons. Other distinguishing factors include LED headlights and Limited Edition badges. Just about the only highlight of the interior is a Chinese horse character stitched into the headrests, giving an edge to the beige leather upholstery. One would imagine the Horse Edition is fully kitted-out with every available option there is for the 7-Series.
