As we reported before, Mercedes-Benz has replaced the 350 variant of the SL-Class with a more potent SL 400, powered by a 3.0 liter bi-turbo V6 engine. Most other 350 models will follow suit in the near future. The company has now confirmed the launch of the SL 400 in the United Kingdom, where it starts from £72,500.
Mercedes SL 400 delivers 333 hp and 480 nm of torque, so it is more powerful than its predecessor, and 36.7 mpg, which means it is more economical as well. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 155 mph (limited), while emitting 178 grams of CO2 for every kilometer it covers.
The UK-spec Mercedes SL 400 comes in the Sport trim, featuring 19” AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels as well as AMG front and rear aprons and side skirts, a boot lid spoiler in body colour and sports suspension. Inside the cabin you get a chequered flag design instrument cluster, flat-bottomed sports steering wheel with silver gear shift paddles, high-end leather, aluminum trims, and AMG floor mats.
Mercedes SL 400 will be sold in the UK alongside SL 500 (£81,915) and SL63 AMG. The latter has also got a power boost, to 585 horsepower and 900 Nm compared to the previous model’s 530 and 800. The SL63, which now comes with a standard AMG limited-slip diff, will set you back £112,510.
