Volkswagen caused quite a stir with the unveiling of the New Midsize Coupe (NMC) concept at the Beijing Auto Show. It’s a four-door coupe that is shorter than a Jetta and wider than a Passat, and one that looks quite good. But nobody knows what it is really.
Most likely, Volkswagen NMC previews a production Jetta CC, but while we are waiting for VW to confirm that, check this out. The designers at X-Tomi Design decided to take matters into their own hands and turn the car into a real coupe. They were apparently fed up with the whole four-door coupe malarkey.
Called Volkswagen E-Coupe, the car in this picture is an athletic coupe with lots of sporting credentials such as flared wheel arches, large chromed air intakes, and a very cool front grille that combined with the unique design of the headlights give the car a very sporty look.
X-Tomi has also improved on NMC by garnishing it with blacked-out roof mirrors and windows. It’s a very interesting proposition, but if Volkswagen decides to make the NMC, it’ll most likely be a four-door coupe as originally planned.
