A while ago at the Beijing Auto Show Mercedes revealed a BMW X6-fighter in form of the Concept Coupe SUV. That concept is now being prepared for production, but it is not called the MLC as we were led to believe. The production version is apparently called Mercedes ML Coupe, which actually sounds kinda cooler.
Known internally as the C292, Mercedes ML Coupe will enter production at Mercedes-Benz Tuscaloosa plant in the United States in late 2015. Test mules have already been dispatched all around the world, and the design of the car appears to have been finalized.
The design of the ML Coupe is inspired rather heavily by the Mercedes S-Class Coupe. It gets the same sort of front grille and headlights as the luxury coupe. The taillights too appear to be a longer version of what you find on the S-Coupe.
The biggest highlight of Mercedes ML Coupe, however, is a sloping roof line that gives the car the appearance of a jacked-out four-door coupe. It’s not a very pretty sight to be honest, but as BMW learned with the X6, it sells like hot cakes.
