As we have reported before, the Viper has become a Dodge again amid the demise of the SRT brand and its dissolution into the Chrysler Group as a sort of in-house tuner. It is now officially official, as the company releases new details on the Dodge Viper SRT GTS-R racing car and shows off its classic red and white livery.
The ‘Viper Red’ and ‘Race White’ liveries for the Dodge Viper SRT GTS-R pay homage to the paint scheme featured on the first racing Vipers and honor the brand’s racing motorsport heritage. And they look a lot cooler than SRT’s soulless silver design.
This livery was worn by the Vipers the scored overall victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in 2000, a GTS class win in the 2000 24 Hours of Le Mans, and American Le Mans Series championships in 1999 and 2000.
Dodge Viper SRT GTS-R will celebrate its competitive track debut at Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen race weekend, June 27-29, at New York’s Watkins Glen International circuit rocking the new livery. No. 91 and No. 93 GTS-Rs will continue racing in these colors for the duration of the 2014 IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season.
