The tech overload in the Mercedes S-Class Coupe means you are paying for gimmicky features that you don’t really need and that you have to carry a lot of unnecessary weight around. But it also means the car is at the top of its game.

It gets down the road with the elegance and majesty of a super yacht, and it’s utterly comfortable and quiet. The term ‘effortless performance’ was probably invented for this car. What it’s not is sporty and engaging, which is fair enough. It is not supposed to be like that.
