Volkswagen revealed its lineup for the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and yes, it does include the GTI Roadster concept. That is the most interesting item on the menu too, to be honest, as the rest include an SUV, and electric Golf, and that XL1 Eco car thingy.
The VW GTI Roadster started out as a virtual model designed exclusively for the Gran Turismo 6 video game, which was then made into a real car for the annual gathering of GTI fans in Woerthersee in Austria. A drivable version of the GTI is now headed for Goodwood, where it will be part of the moving motor show going up the hill. Apparently they are going to let some lucky visitors actually drive the GTI.
VW GTI Roadster is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo TSI engine that produces 503 PS, and 560 Nm. Equipped with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and 4MOTION four-wheel drive, the car goes form rest to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds, and on to a top speed of 190 mph. It has a two-seat cabin, and looks straight out of, well, a video game.
Other VW’s present at Goodwood FoS this year include the Touareg SUV, the Golf GTE, Golf R, and Polo WRC rally car, in addition to the production XL1.
