As you know, the new 2015 BMW M3, and the coupe version known as the M4, is powered by turbocharged straight-six engine. It replaced the big 4.0 liter V8 in the E92, and while new one makes more power than the old engine, there are a couple of areas where it falls short of expectations.
Sure, the new turbo engine is more efficient, but first, it doesn’t really have the responsiveness of a high-revving, naturally-aspirated V8, and second, as you can clearly tell from watching this video, BMW M3’s exhaust noise is somewhat… well, let’s just say not as good.
The engine in the new M3 and M4 is a six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. It develops 431 hp and peak torque of 550 Newton metres (406 lb-ft), which translates into a 0 to 100 km/h / 62 mph in 4.1 seconds (with the optional seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission).
