This is the latest artist rendering of what the 2016 Audi R8 may look like based on the most recent spyshots and information. The strong resemblance to the new Audi TT is not a coincident, but it might be a bit too much.
Sure, Audi has some communist tendencies and would like a unified look for all their cars, as seen with their sedans and hatchbacks, but the R8 is a super car and it has an iconic design which is definitely worth preserving. The thing is, they changed the new TT to kind of look like a mini R8, and that’s a bad thing for the big car, because whatever they do it now, it will look like a TT on steroids.
Still, it’s not a bad look. The 2016 Audi R8 will retain the car’s signature design features such as the unique profile, brought on by the fact that it’s mid-engined, and the slim laser headlights pointing at a ginormous front grille. This rendering also tells us the new R8 will have more pronounced aero parts; a hint that the new car is coming with more power.
2016 Audi R8 will still be offered with a choice of a V8 and a V10 engine, naturally with more power than the current versions. There is also talk of a diesel-powered version, while the electric e-tron version may finally get a green light as well.
