The AMG showroom in Affalterbach has now on display a full-size teaser model of the upcoming AMG GT sports car. Due to the minimalistic design of this model, you need to stare at it for a while to realize it depicts a car, but it does give you a rough idea of the shape of the GT.
The 2015 Mercedes AMG GT is fairly similar to the SLS AMG in profile, but it is shorter and narrower, and it has normal doors instead of show-offy Gullwings. What’s more, the car is considerably lighter than the SLS, and that makes it a proper sports car – a Porsche 911 rival, if you will.
Update: Here’s the latest teaser video released for the AMG GT:
The initial details of the engine they are going to use in the Mercedes AMG GT have already been confirmed. It’s a 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo motor that goes by the codename M178 and produces, in its most basic configuration, 500 horsepower. One would imagine that should AMG decide to make a Black Series version of the GT, this unit can easily be tuned to 600 and beyond.
Mercedes AMG GT is said to be one of the best-looking cars the company has ever made. That explains the elaborate teasing campaign they have planned in the run-up to the car’s debut at the next Paris Motor Show.
