While a Shooting Brake version of the CLA-Class is yet to be revealed by Mercedes-Benz, the guys from RM Design went ahead and rendered the car in full AMG guise. Now, it could be that they’ve done a great job with this rendering, but the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake we are seeing here looks awesome.
OK, it looks awesome from some angles. The rear end does not look very appealing to be honest. It actually looks like a crashed CLS shooting rake. The lack of real estate means the taillights, the diffuser and rear window had to be too close to each other, and that is not a recipe for pleasing aesthetics.
But enough with the negativities. We are very fond of how the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake strikes a balance between being artsy and sporty at the same time. Of course, Merc’s shooting brake form is an elegant design and it almost makes the rest of the car irrelevant to the overall result. But in the case of the CLA45 shooting brake, the AMG apron at the front and the headlights create a perfect harmony with the swooping roofline.
We should see the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake in production in about two years. It’ll be powered by the normal CLA 45’s 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, developing 360 horsepower.
