First-Ever Formula E Race Ended with Spectacular Crash

Formula E Crash 600x341 at First Ever Formula E Race Ended with Spectacular Crash

Who said Formula E is not going to be exciting? The first ever race in this brand-new, extremely green series was indeed exciting, albeit for the wrong reason! The inaugural Grand Prix ended with a massive crash involving two motorsport heavyweights, Nick Heidfeld and Nicolas Prost.

In this incident which happened on the very last lap, Prost’s Spark-Renault SRT_01E collided with Heidfeld’s Venturi Spark-Renault SRT_01E. The German then hit the barriers, went airborne, and landed on his head after several spectacular flips in the air.

Thankfully, Heidfeld escaped the accident without any injury. Well, at least physical injury. He and Prost were quite pissed at each other after the crash, unlike Audi Sport ABT team’s Lucas di Grassi who won the race and went down in the history books as the winner of the first-ever Formula E Grand Prix.
