So a day after the new Mercedes AMG GT made debut to much pomp and circumstance in Affalterbach, the first speculative rendering emerges, showing us what it might look like as a roadster. Short answer: extremely hot!

The designer of this imaginary Mercedes AMG GT Roadster proposes a normal soft top for it which seems like the ideal choice, as a folding hardtop would not only take up too much space, it would also compromise the looks.

Because the AMG GT is wide and low and has the look of a classic GT, what with that long bonnet, short tail, and small overhangs, it looks brilliant as a roadster. And to think with the top down you get to hear that superb 4.0 liter V8 engine even more clearly…

Mercedes AMG GT Roadster is a fantastic idea, but one that might never happen. Mercedes officials have already mentioned a couple of times they have no interest in making a drop-top GT for a number of reason. First, it is pitched as a pure sports car and they like to keep it that way, and second, Mercedes already has too many different roadsters in their lineup and this car could potentially drive customers away from those.
