AMG’s affinity for yachts and motorcycles is known to everybody. They keep buying high-end bike brands and cooperate with the world’s most prestigious boat makers to create bespoke super yachts. So it is not unusual that they got to attend the glamorous Monaco Yacht Show and make a display of their latest cars.
The absolute highlight of the event, and the main reason they went there, was of course the Mercedes AMG GT. The sports car was presented to the guests during the “Designer Visions” dinner party, threw by celebrity yacht designer Espen Øino at the exclusive Yacht Club De Monaco. The GT kind of stole the thunder of Espen’s new flagship, the 85-meter-long “Solandge”.
Mercedes AMG GT is an all-new product with which the company enters the realm of true sports cars and brings the fight to the Porsche 911 with a similar recipe of lightness, loads of power, and intense focus on dynamics. What gives AMG the edge in this Battle Royale is the fact that their car also benefits from properly beautiful styling; something that Porsche never really had.
