The electronic gurus at Mcchip-DKR have done it again. This time they took on the mighty Mercedes G64 AMG and its 5.5 liter V8 Bi-Turbo engine and managed to extract over one hundred extra horses out of it. The Big G is not dangerously powerful!

The power package Mcchip has put together for the Mercedes G63 AMG is very simple, but very, very effective. In the one day it takes to implement this 7,239 Euros program on the G63, they remap the ECU with their own software and install sport cats. That’s it. These seemingly insignificant changes boost the output of the M157 engine from the standard 544 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque to a pretty massive 661 horsepower with over 900 Nm meter of torque. And those are dyno-verified numbers.

The rest of the G63, apparently, remains stock which is a bit disconcerting, because as we know Mercedes limits the G63 to 210 km/h because that’s what its standard tires can take. We are fairly certain the new ECU map eliminates the top speed limiter, and that the extra oomph makes it possible for the car to go way faster than that. So investing in higher performance tires and brakes for this particular G63 would be wise.

The M157 motor is on its last legs as a production engine. Soon it will be replaced with the new 4.0 liter Bi-Turbo units introduced in the AMG GT and 2015 C63 AMG. It will be missed.
