We have seen our fair share of strange and downright weird accidents in our years in this business, but this is the first time we’ve come across something like this. Turns out the Lamborghini Aventador is very aerodynamic – too much, in fact. Somewhere in China an Aventador rear-ended a Mercedes GLK, and went straight under it!
The arrow-shaped nose of the Lamborghini Aventador combined with its girth and low height – and of course it’s huge turn of speed – gives it the characteristic of an ax coming down on a piece of wood in situations like this. Granted, the high ground clearance of the Mercedes GLK also helped, but we reckon the Lambo could also wedge itself under a normal hatchback if it comes at it fast enough.
The beauty of all this, from the viewpoint of the GLK driver, is that despite the severity of the crash, the Mercedes didn’t suffer any damage whatsoever. Thanks to its chunky tires and four-wheel-drive, the crossover could just drive off the Lambo and go on its way as if nothing happened.
This makes a good case for SUV fans who are always quick to play the safety card when it comes to defending their choice of car. Using 4x4s to take the children to school and running errands makes sense now, because if we had children, we too would want them in the massive SUV and not in the low-slung sports car that gets wedged under other vehicles so easily.
