As we told you in great detail a while ago, United States Army is in the process of vetting a new multi-purpose military vehicle as the replacement for the iconic Humvee. This has apparently caused alarmed the Russians and made them realize they need to hustle and come up with a rival.
So in true Cold War fashion, Russia’s biggest manufacturer of trucks and heavy machinery, ZIL, revealed a concept which they believe is the ultimate light military vehicle. ZIL Army Car, as it’s known, looks like something designed to work on Mars, what with that unique body, huge axles, and big, chunky tires. Then again, it is designed to work in Russia.
Powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine, ZIL military vehicle can carry up to 10 personnel and their gear in relative comfort, and it can deal with pretty much all sorts of terrain. They haven’t revealed if it’s armoured or not, or what sort of communication equipment it has. Russians are not boastful like Americans!
The best thing about ZIL army car, though, is the way it looks. Just imagine you are an infantry man on guard duty and you see thing jumping over the hilltops charging towards you. You just gonna drop your gun and run!
