Proving once again its unbeatable blend of power and frugality, a Ford EcoBoost V6 engine enabled Chip Ganassi Racing team to achieve victory in the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday. This is the second endurance win for the EcoBoost engine following the 12 Hours of Sebring last year.

Chip Ganassi drivers Scott Dixon, Kyle Larson, Jamie McMurray and Tony Kanaan took advantage of the Ford EcoBoost V6 combination of power, endurance and fuel efficiency to drive the unique racing car to victory in the premier Prototype class. They were particularly pleased with the engine’s fuel efficiency which led to advantageous pit stop strategies, giving Ganassi team an edge especially in the closing laps.

Various production versions of Ford EcoBoost engines can be found in Ford’s road cars. The best thing about them is that they don’t sacrifice performance for the sake of economy. The balance they offer between the two is pretty much spot on.

“It was a great day for Ford and a great day for Ganassi,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development, who accepted the manufacturer’s trophy on behalf of Ford. “We had a great car and great drivers. And, of course, we had really great power, reliability and fuel economy out of the EcoBoost engine. This is a great testament to the entire team. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
