Following the Elise S Cup R, Lotus has now announced a road-going S Cup variant of the Elise. It’s a less hard-core version of the R, designed to be usable, sort of, on the road, on your way to the race track. This is a track toy, after all.
Compared to the Elise S, the Lotus Elise S Cup comes with a number of extras – and also a number of omissions – the net result of which is a massive 3-second reduction in the car’s lap time around the firm’s Hethel test track. The changes are visual as well as mechanical.
If we cut to the chase, Lotus Elise S Cup comes with an aero kit consisting of a front splitter with end winglets, lateral bargeboards, a fixed roof, tail wing and rear diffuser, a T45 specification roll-hoop, and a beefed-up 217 horsepower engine. It weighs in at just 932 kg, which means it is pretty fast, making 60 mph from 0 in 4.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 155 mpg.
Prices for the Lotus Elise S Cup start from £43,500 in the UK and €56,525 in Germany.
