Looks like the announcement about the launch of Bentley Bentayga SUV at this year’s Geneva Motor Show has caused quite a stir in the auto world. Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini are said to be accelerating their SUV plans, and now news came that we may even see a Maybach SUV in the near future.
The excellent sales of upmarket luxury SUVs has convinced the Mercedes-Benz top brass to greenlight a Maybach SUV model, even though the brand itself has just been revived with the Mercedes Maybach S600. Just as the limo, the SUV version of the Maybach will be based on an existing Mercedes model, most likely the GL.
There are literally no details available on this Mercedes Maybach SUV yet, but we have the words of Daimler’s charismatic boss Dr Dieter Zetsche, who responded to a question about the possibility of this model with a resounding “Most likely!”. That is all the proof you need that the car is definitely on the cards.
So even before it finally launches, Bentley Bentayga has to worry about fierce competition from Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, and possibly Lamborghini. BMW may be the next player to join this high-end game.
