Land Rover took the wraps off the new 2016 Range Rover Evoque featuring, as promised by this teaser, a fresh look at the front. That’s about the extent of freshness you get in terms of design, and even that takes an effort to notice.
Then again, that is the case with almost all mid-life facelifts, and anyway, it is not like the Evoque was in dire need of an update. The existing model is still THE best looking crossover in the market. The 2016 version only enhances it and make it more desirable.
Aesthetically, the 2015 Range Rover Evoque comes with a new front bumper, two new grille designs, all-LED headlamps and three new alloy wheel designs. Inside, new seats and door casings, new infotainment system, accessed via an eight-inch touchscreen, and the introduction of new colour and materials.
More profound changes have happened under the bonnet where the 2016 Range Rover Evoque is about 18% more efficient than the original. It is offered with a new four-cylinder Ingenium diesel with 180 PS, fuel economy of up to 68mpg (4.2l/100km) and CO2 emissions as low as 109g/km (2WD model). More performance-minded customers can opt for the 240 PS Si4 petrol engine which delivers 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in just 7.6 seconds; a top speed of 217 km/h (135 mph); and fuel economy of 36 mpg.
