Mitsubishi is coming to the 2015 New York Auto Show, not with a handsome concept car they are never going to make, but with a new version of their Outlander SUV. It is not that much of a looker, but 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander is the result of years of honing and polishing. So it ought to be good.
Judging by what can see in these dark teaser photos, and what we have already seen in leaked and spied photographs, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander is going to give cars like the Range Rover and Mercedes ML any reasons to be worried – neither styling-wise, nor in terms of luxury.
Mitsubishi has been making 4x4s for years and they are pretty good at it. In fact, they might gotten a bit overconfident as with the new model they’ve put the main bulk of their on things like “dynamic appearance, enhanced road performance, improvements to noise levels, ride, handling and throttle response, and eloquent interior.” These are what customers in this segment want from a mid-range SUV, not the ability to conquer Death Valley.
So there you go. If you are visiting this year’s New York Auto Show, be on the lookout for an extremely mediocre SVU at Mitsu’s booth. It’ll be easy to miss it.
