Posaidon is one of those German tuners whose obsession with power borders on insanity. Last year they released two Mercedes models with crazy power, including a 450-hp A-Class and an 850-hp E-Class. They have added a third member to the family, an 830 horsepower G-Class!
Posaidon Mercedes G63 AMG looks 100 percent stock on the outside, but under the bonnet stuff has happened. The standard turbochargers along with the intercoolers, air intakes, and the exhaust system are taken out and thrown in the bin, replaced with custom units designed by Posaidon themselves. They have also revised the 7G transmission and uploaded a new software into the ECU to govern the whole thing.
The upshot of all this is that Posaidon Mercedes G63 AMG now develops 830 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque, a remarkable increase over the standard 540 horsepower and 760 Nm. That said, an almost 300 hp increase is power does not have as big an effect on the performance as we would have liked.
To be sure, Posaidon Mercedes G63 AMG is over one second quicker to 100 km/h than the standard G63 and that’s commendable. But all that trouble and money and increased fuel consumption for just one second? Is that logical? I’d rather wait one second longer to reach 100!
