At the Shanghai Motor Show in China Volkswagen revealed a new version of 41-year old Scirocco coupe. The new VW Scirocco GTS is essentially a more handsome, less practical, and more expensive version of the Gold VII GTi, and it pays homage to the first GTS Scirocco launched in 1982.

That kind of explains the rather vintage look brought on by those racing stripes adorning the exterior of the 2015 VW Scirocco GTS. Apart from that, and compared to a normal model, the car also features distinctive R-style bumpers, custom side sill extensions, a roof spoiler, plus 18-inch standard and 19-inch available wheels. Scirocco GTS can be ordered in six colours: “Deep Black”, “Indium Grey”, “Urano Grey”, “Pure White”, “Oryx White” and “Flash Red.”

As for the interior, VW Scirocco GTS comes with two-tone black and red cabin boasting Piano Black Lacquer decorative inlays, black headliner, custom sport steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, golf ball gear knob and red decorative stitching. There is also a chrome trim package you can order if you like shiny things.

In terms of power and performance, 2015 VW Scirocco GTS comes with a 220 PS version of the firm’s 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to either with a manual gearbox or with the 6-speed DSG. It enables the GTS to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 244 km/h, while returning an average fuel consumption of 6.1 to 6.4 l/100 km, depending on the transmission.
