Logically, BMW should have presented their new CSL Hommage concept at Villa d’Este in the official ///M racing livery. After all, this car is a tribute to the original BMW 3.0 CSL which became famous because of that livery. But for some reason they decided not to do it and revealed the car with a rich yellow paint job.
So that’s why Jon Sibal decided he should take matters into his own hand and rendered the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage concept in the original red, blue and white racing livery of M division. The end result is, as you can see, stunning; although we still can’t live with that ghastly front-end, especially those humongous grilles.
One gets the idea BMW didn’t gave the Hommage the M livery because they knew what they had come up with was at best controversial. They obviously didn’t want to damage the reputation of their official livery, found only on the best and brightest models they make. It still boggles our mind how could the top brass allow something with such a horrid face to be made in the first place.
