As we reported earlier, top motoring journo and internet personality Chris Harris competed at this year’s Nurburgring 24 Hours race at, well, the Nurburgring, and to get there from England he borrowed a BMW 320d from somebody. On the way he had an epiphany: as far as ‘ordinary cars’ go, BMW 320d is everything you will ever need. In some ways it is the best cars in the world!
Harris’ moment of insanity aside, he’d be a perfect Top Gear presenter now that they have butchered the show and the body is up for grabs. As you may have heard, they’re holding open auditions for Chris Evans co-hosts. We really think the show can do with another Chris, this time the Harris kind.
BMW 320d is powered by a turbodiesel four-pot engine developing 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Thanks to a range of EfficientDynamics stuff and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission the car sprints 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). Despite the more than satisfying performance, the 320d still returns something like 4.0 liter per 100 km and 106 g/km in terms of Co2 emissions.
