For Range Rover celebrating milestones is not really an option. It’s like those Royal affairs, such as Queen’s diamond jubilee, that must be marked and celebrated because it represents something bigger than the thing or the person being celebrated. And so Range Rover will celebrate their 45th anniversary with a series of 2015 highlights.
The main feature of these highlights is the Range Rover SVAutobiography, unveiled at the New York Auto Show in March, featuring distinctive Duo-tone paintwork and a 550PS V8 petrol engine. After that there was the landmark six millionth Land Rover which was a Range Rover Vogue SE produced at the Solihull production line in April. And the journey continues through the rest of year with more special models and events.
But looking forward and coming up with new and amazing technologies does not hinder Range Rover from boasting about their glorious past, of which they are fiercely, and rightly, proud. At the 45th anniversary of the brand homage was paid to the early model with a special photoshoot starring all four generations of the car, including the Classic (1970 – 1994), P38a (1994 – 2001), L322 (2001-2012), and the current fourth-generation L405 model.
Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover Director Global Engineering Operations, said: “Range Rover was the first luxury SUV in the world in 1970 and 45 years on it continues to lead the way. The latest model is the most desirable and sophisticated Land Rover ever, mixing peerless comfort with cutting edge technology to provide the ultimate luxury SUV experience.”
