Just out of the blue Mercedes-Benz decided to create ten special copies of the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Legacy Edition for South Africa. On the face of it these cars appear to be a limited edition for that specific market, but they might have something to do with these mysterious teasers as well.

As the name ‘Legacy’ suggests, this version of the C63 is a tribute to the current generation of the car which will be soon be replaced by what was underneath the camouflage in those teaser pictures you just saw. Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Legacy Edition, then, is a sort of swan song for the current version and a welcome card for the next one.

The significance of the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe Legacy, apart from its name, the fact that it is limited to just 10 units, and its awesome Viper Green paint job, is due to the fact that it is the last of AMG sports car to feature the glorious 6.2 liter naturally-aspirated V8. We are going to miss this engine’s power, but not as much as the spine-tingling sound that it made.

Boasting 510 horsepower, the current C63 AMG Coupe is as powerful, and almost as fast, as the Mercedes AMG GT. The next model will feature the GT’s 4.0 liter bit-turbo V8, so at least we know there is no need to worry about the lack of oomph.
