Following the release of the first official picture of the new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet, the company has now published a new one which serves as a teaser for the car’s imminent reveal. We will be getting a good look at the S-Cabrio prior to its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Last time Mercedes-Benz created a luxury four-seat cabriolet was 44 years ago and you can see the car in question in the picture above. These days that old luxury drop-top is worth an embarrassing amount of money because it is now qualified as a full-fledged classic. Will the new Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet rich the same status?
Well, in describing the Mercedes S-Class Cabriolet they use words “ultra-exclusive” and “effortless, open-top motoring,” both of which suggest it should be a limited edition, super deluxe variants of the W222 S-Class. But modern cars are like home appliances. They are deliberately designed to go out of fashion soon, so you would ditch them and buy a new one.
As for the technicalities, the S-Cabrio is basically an open-top S-Class Coupe with the same powertrains and options, only the Cabrio comes with relevant options such as AIRSCARF and AIRCAP.
