Audi S8 Avant Plus – Does It Make Sense?

So we just looked at the new Audi S8 Plus and admired its immense power while feeling a bit disappointed that it doesn’t look more interesting. Designer X-Tomi has now tried to address this issue with this, the Audi S8 Avant Plus.

Granted, he has not addressed the looks of the car around the front where serious modifications are needed to make the car look like the 600 horsepower super saloon it is. What he has done is turn the car into a station wagon – or Avant, in Audi speak – and by doing that he has increased the S8’s appeal.

The thing is, there is a fundamental problem with the idea of an Audi S8 Avant Plus. The German automaker already has a high-powered Avant model called the RS6. It’s a handsome car with near as make no difference the same power as the S8 Plus, since the engine in both cars is basically the same.

That said, there is something inexplicably cool about the Audi S8 Avant Plus that makes us wish it becomes a reality. The S8 kind of looks more impressive as an Avant and it’s the sheer presence of the thing that makes it interesting.
