Kia caused quite a stir at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show with their new Sportage crossover and its sexy GT Line trim level. But now designer X-Tomi has gone one step better and has come up with his idea of a proper Kia Sportage GT.
Inspired by the Optima GT, Tomi’s Kia Sportage GT comes with a revised bumper and grille featuring gloss black elements and a larger air intake. The rear end is persumably revised as well, probably with a roof spoiler, a diffuser, and smoked lights. The Tiger Nose grille is also bigger and more prominent, which is a good thing because the only way we can imagine a Sportage GT is if it has a meaty turbocharged engine.
The most suitable engine for the Kia Sportage GT would be the same 2.0-litre T-GDI engine they put in the Optima GT with 245 horsepower. In the sports sedan that engine delivers a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. The Sportage GT would probably be a bit slower. That is, if Kia ever gets around making this model. There is no known plan for this as of yet, but still, it’s a pretty interesting proposition.
