The latest addition to Mercedes-Benz’s 450 family is a new version of the GLE-Class SUV (formerly known as the M-Class). Just like the others, Mercedes GLE 450 AMG 4Matic is powered by the firm’s relatively new 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine and it comes with more sporty features than normal models.
Among the main highlights of new Mercedes GLE 450 AMG one can mention the AMG suspension, the Sports Direct-Steer system, the nine-stage automatic transmission 9G?TRONIC and the permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC with the rear-biased torque distribution of 40:60. But to look at it one would struggle to see any difference compared to other GLE models.
Visually, Mercedes GLE 450 AMG comes with two chromed twin tailpipe trims and the black-painted and high-sheen 20-inch 5-spoke light-alloy wheels, plus exclusive trim in black and silver chrome. Inside, you get nappa leather sports steering wheel, trim parts in light aluminium and brushed stainless steel sports pedals, and AMG carbon fibre/black piano lacquer trim.
As for the performance, the 3.0 liter 450 engine develops in the GLE a very decent 367 hp and 520 Nm of torque which is good for a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, while returning 8.6 l/100 km and CO2 rating of 199 g/km.
The list standard tech features for GLE 450 includes ADAPTIVE BRAKE, ATTENTION ASSIST, COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, ECO start/stop function, ISOFIX child seat attachment in the rear, PRE-SAFE system, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Crosswind Assist. Optional extras include two-tone black nappa leather in porcelain/black, COMAND Online, Bang & Olufsen BeoSound high-end surround sound system, LED Intelligent Light System, DISTRONIC PLUS, Driving Assistance package Plus, Night package, and Climatised seats for the driver and front passenger.
