So while the old Top Gear crew – Clarkson, Hammond and May – are off doing live shows and making ads for their new employer, Amazon, the BBC is busy filing the new TG with Chris Evans. The presenter revealed during an interview that the first episode is scheduled to be aired on Sunday 8 May next year.
As for what we can expect from the new Top Gear, Evans revealed only a few tidbits such as an intercontinental journey to America. He remained tight-lipped on who would be presenting the show with him, reinforcing previous rumors that it could be a solo act, even though the American journey seems way too big for just one presenter, even one as good as Chris Evans. The Stig will be there, though.
Whatever the BBC and the broadcasting legend that is Evans have planned for the new Top Gear, they are going to have a hard time competing with Amazon’s new show with the ex-TG boys. We know they have filmed something with the hypercar holy trinity, and, well, it’s Clarkson, Hammond and May. They are like the Gods of TV motoring. All we want know is for them to be done with the live show nonsense so they can get filming!
