The Roadster version of the Huracan has barely hit the market, but Lamborghini went ahead and launched another new version of the car. The 2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 is sort of an entry-level model boasting a new face, less power, and rear-wheel drive.
So yes, in many ways the LP 580-2 is a discount version of the real thing – and it is priced accordingly at 150.000 Euros – but a lot of people will find the rear-drive version a much more enticing proposition than the more powerful, more sensible all-wheel drive LP 610-4. That is, if they can live with that face which, whichever way you look at it, appears to have been inspired by a cat!
Packing a 580 horsepower version of the 5.2 liter V10 engine, Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 is 33 kg lighter than the normal Huracan, mainly thanks to the omission of the all-wheel drive system. The car also comes with new power management set-up, encompassing modified suspension, new steering set-up and recalibrated stability and traction controls.
Performance-wise, the Huracan 580 does 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 320 km/h. The biggest difference is going to be in the way this thing corners, where the rear wheel drive will enable you to pull off some spectacular tail slides. You can go ahead and already nickname this car the “pussy drifter”.
