A few days ago at the CES 2016 in Las Vegas Chevrolet showed us a brand-new, all-electric hatchback they have come up with for the new year. Fast forward to NAIAS 2016 in Detroit, and they have now the full specs and details of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV.

So if cut right to chase, 2017 Chevrolet Bolt features a beefy electric motor with 266 lb.-ft. (360 Nm) of torque and 200 hp (150 kW) of power, corresponding to a 0-60 mph time of less than seven seconds, an estimated range of 200 miles, and CO2 emissions of exactly zero.

Those are all good figures for an EV, especially a small, city dweller like the Bolt. The car has a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack to thanks for that. It consists of 288 lithium ion cells in five sections with ten modules and 96 cell groups for a total weight of 960 lbs. (435 kg).

Another technology highlight of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is the firm’s first Electronic Precision Shift system. Similar to drive-by-wire system, this feature sends electronic signals to the Bolt EV’s drive unit to manage precise feel and delivery of power and torque, based on drive mode selection and accelerator inputs. Advantages also include less packaging space.
