Lamborghini celebrated last week the production of the 5,000th Aventador model by stopping the line and gathering the workers and managers alike for a family photo. It took the firm only 55 months to make 5,000 Lamborghini Aventador which is pretty good going for a car of this class and price range.

People say a lot of harsh things about Stephan Winkelmann, mainly because they don’t like the expensive limited edition models he commissioned, but you can’t deny that during his reign Lambo turned itself into a colossus, selling more super cars than any other company present in this market. Delivering 5,000 Aventadors is an amazing feat and a record the Italians can be really proud of.

Winkelmann has now stepped down as the CEO of Lamborghini but the company will most likely follow the current successful course for a foreseeable future. That’s because strategies are dictated by the colonial power that is Audi, Lambo’s parent company, and they get it from Volkswagen. It’s not as glamorous as the cars they sell, but it’s a system that works. So congrats, Lamborghini. And here’s to the next 5,000 Aventadors!
