Once again, Audi proves that diesel-powered cars can be exciting and desirable by releasing a new high-performance SQ model. The model in question here is Audi SQ7 powered by a V8 BiTDI engine developing 435 horsepower and peak torque of 900 Nm.

That horsepower figure is on the par with what you get from the very best of petrol-powered V8s while the torque is more in the V12 territory. Performance-wise, these numbers translate into a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (limited), but the best thing about this engine is the fuel consumption which is 38.2 mpg combined. That’s kind of the beauty of diesel engines.

The engine in the new Audi SQ7 is work of engineering art as it features three chargers, including one electrically powered compressor (EPC) and two exhaust-gas turbochargers which are activated selectively according to the concept of sequential charging. It also has Audi valvelift system (AVS), common-rail system, and a sound actuator in the exhaust system for proper V8 noise.

Other technical highlights separating Audi SQ7 from regular models in this class include an optional all-wheel steering for easier parking, quattro with optional sport differential, and multimaterial construction for lightness. The seven-seat SUV also comes with S body kit and interior with features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, all-LED headlights, MMI navigation plus with MMI Touch, adaptive S air suspension, Audi pre sense city and a powered tailgate fitted as standard.
