If you want an AMG Merc these days and/or a cabriolet, you really are spoiled for choice. And just to make it harder for you to make a decision, the firm has just released the new Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet at the New York Auto Show.
You can think of this car as a more powerful, better looking SLC (formerly SLK) with a soft-top. We are starting to see why Mercedes-Benz is insisting on making the SLC uglier with each new model. They are making room for models like Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet. The car comes with an electric fabric roof featuring, optional AIRSCARF neck-level heating or the automatic AIRCAP draught-stop, which does take a fair bit of space in the bit when its down (355 liters against 260).
Design-wise, Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet is identical to the coupe apart from the roof, obviously. What’s cool about this model is all the AMG Performance options you get, such as exhaust system with flap control, AMG ceramic, blacked out styling details, as well as AMG Night and Carbon packages. The same goes for the interior where you can spruce up the looks of the cabin with options like two-tone nappa leather red pepper/black or platinum white/black, carbon or matte aluminum trims.
The engine in the C63 Cabriolet is the same 4.0 liter unit you find in the AMG GT sports car with 476 horsepower in normal and 510 horsepower in the S-model. The transmission is an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed propelling rear wheels through a mechanical rear-axle limited-slip differential for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds in the S-Model. Top speed is limited to 250, but you can raise it to 280 km/h is you get the AMG Driver’s Package.
