SVR on a Budget: Mcchip Jaguar F-Type R

Mcchip Jaguar F Type R 0 600x369 at SVR on a Budget: Mcchip Jaguar F Type R

If the new SVR version of the Jaguar F-Type is a bit too saucy – or expensive – for you, there is still a way to have that kind of action in your life. This Mcchip Jaguar F-Type R offers pretty much the same performance as a SVR at a more reasonable cost.

Now, we should clarify that Mcchip Jaguar F-Type R is as a Convertible R AWD model which should have, according to Jaguar, 550 horsepower out of the box. But when DKR boys strapped it on their dyno machine and measured the real power output, the figure on the screen read 512 horsepower. Not to worry though, because thanks to Mcchip’s chipping treatment this R now makes the full 550 hp that its owner was promised.

Mcchip-DKR ECU remap and compressor pulley upgrade unlocks an extra 48 PS and 51 Nm of torque from F-Type R’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, bringing the output up to 550 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. That means by Jaguar’s calculation which calls the standard version a 550 hp car, Mcchip Jaguar F-Type R packs a nominal 598 horsepower! With this kind of oomph, the R should be able to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds as claimed by the manufacturer.
