As promised in these official sketches, the new 2017 VW Amarok Facelift comes with a design even more robust and athletic than the current model. What’s more, the new version also gets a bigger ‘heart’ in from of an incredibly torquey V6 turbodiesel engine.
The new motor is designed specifically for commercial use, which means it provides big lumps of torque at low engine speeds, which of course means better pulling power under heavy load. In the 2017 VW Amarok this V6 generates 224 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, but lower outputs (163 PS and 204 PS) are also available in conjunction with a manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
You also have the choice between rear-wheel drive and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive featuring Torsen differential with the 8-speed automatic gearbox, with the latter being a lot more capable but a bit less fuel efficient. You also get Servotronic steering system, 17-inch brake discs on the front and 16-inch on the back, and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.
As for the looks, which have always been the Amarok’s strong point, the new model looks all in all more serious and refined, on the par with the best of what the Japanese and Americans offer in this segment. The load capacity is 2.52 m2 inside the cargo compartment. Equipment-wise, there is a special trim level called 2017 VW Amarok Aventura which comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and the Park Distance Control parking assistant with rear-view camera.
