So earlier today we brought you the official stuff on the new Audi A5 and S5 Coupe. Then a little bit later we showed you what the thing looks like as a convertible. And now behold the magnificence of the next, probably 2019, Audi RS5 Coupe.
And we have the same rendering artist who did the Cabriolet to thank for this speculative image of the next Audi RS5. Tomi’s depiction of the new RS5 seems to be spot on. He’s used cues from current Audi RS models, and if know Audi RS, which we do, these guys don’t like big changes. So unless something profound happens that would change the whole philosophy of Audi design, this is what your next RS5 will look like.
But as always when you talk of an Audi RS the engine has a lot more importance than the looks. Will the V8s be still in play by the time the 2018 Audi RS5 comes in from the cold? If so, you can expect a revised version of the current 4.0 liter TFSI unit with even greater efficiency and around 500 horsepower output. If not, then we reckon a V6 TFSI would be on the cards. One cannot dismiss the idea of a hybrid RS5 out of hand, either. So… I guess time will tell.
