Privacy these days really is at a premium and it seems that, with all the acts of terror plaguing the world, people are willing to trade their privacy for at the least the illusion of more safety. That is probably why the 2016 Cadillac CT6 is now available with up to seven cameras recording videos of the vehicle’s surroundings.
Cadillac calls this “an industry-first surround-vision video recording system” designed to “enhance situational awareness and safety.” But it could easily be used to spy no your neighbor or whomever you don’t like very much. Just park the car in front of their house and activate the system. And don’t get us started on the possibilities achievable through hacking this thing.
Cadillac CT6 surveillance system consists of seven exterior cameras strategically placed so as not to mess with the car’s design. Four of these cameras – one in each door-mounted rearview mirror, one integrated into the front grille and one mounted on the rear trunk lid – record videos either in a round-robin fashion when the vehicle security system is armed, or as simple point and shoot units when the vehicle’s in action. Obviously you also get a 360-degree view of the car on the main screen inside the cabin.
The videos recorded by Cadillac CT6 Surround Vision camera system are saved on an SD card located in the trunk so you can easily download the footage into your phone or computer.
