It was never a question of ‘if’ with the LaFerrari Spider but ‘when’. And it seems we are soon going to get an answer to that question as the car has become the talk of the town lately and that usually means an imminent official announcement by the manufacturer.

So we first had this amazing rendering giving us an early look at what the new LaFerrari Spider might look like, then celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay took to the new Top Gear to confirm he’s actually ordered one of these things and showed us the key an evidence. And now we have this, a couple of leaked photos of the LaFerrari Spider scale model.

Scale models have become a menace to car makers lately in the same way that smartphone cases give away secrets of upcoming models in that area. Because they are both ordered to third party manufacturers, they often leak out more readily and spill the bins on the looks, size and sometimes more intimate details of the upcoming product.

In the case of the LaFerrari Spider, if this model is indeed legit, there really isn’t much to give away since the thing is an open-top version of the LaFerrari. We can all imagine that. It doesn’t take a genius. I guess the bigger question here is how losing he roof might affect the hyper car’s performance, and to find that out we’re going to have to wait for the real thing to arrive.
