If you find the standard BMW M4 a bit too flavorless but don’t like the hard-core GTS version on account of its ridiculous orange wheels, do not despair because there is a sweet spot between the two. We are of course talking about the BMW M4 Competition Package.
With upgraded visuals and mechanicals, BMW M4 Competition Package is a pretty enticing proposition to those who are serious about their driving and don’t buy a German sports car simply for bragging rights and showing off. Granted, some people will tell you the M4 CP is a faux GTS. But you have to remember you pay a lot less for this car and get an overall better value as well. A cool slate grey M4 Competition Package recently popped by European Auto Source workshops where the boys strapped it on their dyno machine. What they found was the Competition puts down as much power at the wheels as the standard M4 does at the crank:
So the 19 horsepower hike in power that BMW M4 Competition Package enjoys over the stock version (max output 450 hp) is all wasted in the drivetrain. But at least you get the promised 430 at the wheels now, which is enough for sprinting to 62 mph from zero 0.1 second faster. The Competition Package also includes Adaptive M Suspension with new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, along with reconfigured driving modes, revised Active M Differential on the rear axle and DSC Dynamic Stability Control, GTS 20 inch wheels, special lightweight M sports seats, M sports exhaust system with black chrome or carbon tailpipes and BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line exterior trim.
