Much to the delight of hot hatch enthusiast everywhere, there is a new Ford Performance by Mountune engine upgrade kit for the new Focus RS which boost the performance of the already fast car to ridiculous levels. The new Ford Focus RS Mountune packs 375 horsepower and 510 Nm of torque.
Those numbers are meaningless unless they are translated into real world performance figures. So Ford Focus RS Mountune can sprint from zero to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds which, as Ford is quick to remind us, is faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera, which costs more than twice as much. That is an impressive feat, but the Porsche cost that much because at the end of the day it’s still a Porsche whereas the Ford, fast though it sure is, is still a family hatchback.
Still, Ford Performance is going to sell a whole bunch of the new £899 Mountune upgrade package in the UK, seeing as the Focus RS is selling like hot cakes in that country and it’s bought predominantly by the type of person who cherish the idea of upgrading and tuning their cars. Ford Focus RS Mountune kit includes a high-performance air filter, bespoke alloy crossover duct with high-performance silicone hoses, an upgraded air re-circulation valve and revised software tuning for the engine ECU. It takes hour and a half to install, gives 25 PS and 40 Nm, and doesn’t void your warranty.
