True to their motto which is ‘Light is Right,’ every time Lotus wants to enhance the appeal of one of their cars in the eyes of their loyal customers all they have to do is shave a few kilos off it. It is not always as easy as it sounds, but they seem to have pulled it off all right with the latest edition of Lotus Evora 400.
This one is called Lotus Evora 400 Carbon Pack, but in truth it comes with three distinct light saving measures only one of which is the employment of light carbon fiber body components. The sports car also benefits now from a Lithium Ion battery and a titanium sports exhaust, resulting in a combined saving of 42 kg (93 lbs), dropping the overall weight of the car to 1,353 kg (2,983 lbs) and improving its power to weight ratio.
The Carbon Pack for Lotus Evora 400 is priced at £6,500 (UK), €9,000 (Germany), $10,000 (USD) and consists of a front splitter section, roof panel, rear wing centre, rear diffuser finisher, front access panel and wing mirror caps. The light weight titanium exhaust runs for £5,500 (UK), €7,000 (Germany), $8,000 (USD) and the lithium-ion battery £1,350 (UK), €1,890 (Germany), $1,690 (USD). Interestingly, Lotus offers a lightweight 120-gram cup holder for the cars sold in America, and they will remove your air con and rear seat for free if you don’t want them.
