The new 400 horsepower Audi TT RS is about to become available for order in the United Kingdom, raising the bar for small sports coupe in that busy market. The RS is a fine piece of German engineering, but it is a 50 grand car and I don’t know, but that kind of money can buy you much sexier stuff, bigger, better equipped, and in some cases faster.

But hey, if your heart is set on this new car you should know that 2017 Audi TT RS starts at £51,800 for the Coupe and £53,550 for the Roadster version. You should get both of them, and then you’ll have a couple of very expensive ‘TTs’ that you can enjoy ‘motoring’ in any weather!

Childish humor aside, the new Audi TT RS comes with a heavily revised version of the ancient 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbo engine developing now 400 PS and 480 Nm of torque. That is enough to propel the RS from 0 to 62mph in 3.7 seconds (Roadster 3.9 seconds). Top speed is limited to 155 mph, but you know Audi, even performance is an optional extra with them. So if you shell out for the optional Dynamic Package Plus they raise the top speed to 174 mph.
