BMW Concept X2 Unveiled in Paris

The main highlight of BMW’s stand at this year’s Paris Motor Show is the long-rumored X2 compact crossover, revealed in concept form. Although it is supposed to be a jacked-up 2 Series GT, BMW Concept X2 actually shows a rather dashing and dynamic small SUV that could be a nice addition to the car maker’s range.

The keywords in the design of BMW Concept X2, according to the designers, are long wheelbase, stretched roofline, short overhangs and heavily forward-slanting C-pillar. These are the features that give the car its dynamic appearance and link it with BMW’s X family of sport utility vehicles.

Of course, if and when the car becomes a production model it is going to get toned down to a great degree. Design cues such as those cool bumpers, those massively flared wheel arches, and the 21 inch wheels will be gone for sure. But as long as it retains some of the character of the concept it’ll be fine. BMW Concept X2 being a design study, there is nothing to be impressed about in terms of interior design or advanced powertrain options. So just enjoy the looks for now!

“The BMW Concept X2 is a vehicle for active people looking for a combination of enjoyment and practicality,” explains Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “The concept displays a new and exciting facet of the BMW brand within the compact segment.”
